In only a quarter of a century the neighborhood that raised me has seemingly turned into the main destination point in all of the United States of America. Pretty cool, one could say. But what if you’re on the inside looking out? That’s when your ice gets thin and the lines start to blur. To see the decimation of your neighborhood. Your community&culture(s)—all while others rise. It’s your hometown, so naturally, you wanna cheer for it. Es tu barrio! But it’s hard. To combat the woes of radical change within the 9th District of San Francisco, I look for signs of life and visual aids left by the locals. This is what The Mission looks like to me.
